Youth/CQ Valentine's Day Banquet

1st Annual TGIF Youth/CQ Valentine's Banquet Performances

Yesterday was the first annual TGIF Youth/CQ Valentine's Banquet. I am so proud of all of the youth who performed! Not only did they all do an awesome job, but they did it for the glory of God. These young men and women have been preparing for this night for over two weeks and it was great to see what they all came up with.

Here's a list of some notable performances:

  • Dale's amazing vocals of Ethan's Blog - completely blew everyone away

  • Kudos to Ciarene for not giving up even though she forgot the words to her song - Great job girl!

  • Billy's awesome cover of Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet" - still makes me smile when I think about it

  • Shelumiel Jones and his madd break dancing skillz

  • Kenneth's hilarious cover of Train's "Hey Soul Sista" on the ukulele
  • Danielle's cover of "Valentine" by Kina Grannis

Everyone did an amazing job and I'm SO proud of you guys and gals!

Something that has been on my mind lately is how lucky we are, that in the U.S. we are be able to express our religious freedom. Think about it: not being able to worship, preach, or even read the Bible. Can you imagine living with limited access to God? I've been very fortunate to be able to always have access to Him . When I was growing up, I was Catholic, and then when I got saved and became a Christian this year. I know that God was always in my life, but I can't imagine having to hide the fact that I love God.

Funny thing though, there are people who say they are Christian, but still manage to hide their belief in Him. They are among us, our brothers and sisters in Christ, but may be afraid or ashamed to proclaim their love for the Almighty. They may be afraid to do so because they are afraid of persecution. I don't blame them; we all seek approval because of our human nature. It makes us feel bad and invalidates us when people don't approve. One thing they have to remember, if there is rejection, their not the ones getting rejected, it's God. It's our job to spread the Good News and there's nothing we can do or say to persuade anyone to come to Christ. We just spread the news; we're just messengers. God will come into their hearts and save them.

Because of this, I think we need to step it up, this is why fellowship is so important. It says in Psalm 133: 1-3:

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!  "
